The St. Lucia Diabetes and Hypertension Association will be hosting an event titled ‘Hope for the Future - Advocating for School Nutrition Policies’ at the Derek Walcott Square on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM EST. This activity is part of a youth-led regional effort to highlight the importance of healthy school food environments.
The objective of the event is to underscore youth and broader public support for the implementation and strengthening of school nutrition policies, including regulations on the sale and marketing of ultra-processed products in and around schools.
The St. Lucia Diabetes & Hypertension Association (SLDHA) was conceptualized on August 9, 1983 and nationally launched in April, 1989. It was established to attend to the welfare of diabetic and hypertensive individuals in St. Lucia, as well as to provide service to the general public.
